So I’ve been back home to visit family for a few days now.

The first night I arrived, I walked through my parents’ house. It’s been a good couple of years (minus the five hours last year while I had a day off from tour, but considering I didn’t pay much attention other than to my friend’s wedding, then heading back to tour for bus call… that doesn’t count) and was amazed (and amused) by old memories.

Let me just say… my old room that I grew up in is quite possibly one of the funniest things to me right now. I was definitely your typical teenager who turned her walls into one massive collage of magazine photos of all of her favorite bands and actors… a lot of which I personally know now and it’s actually quite embarrassing. But hey, we all have to laugh at ourselves, right? I took some photos with my Helio that I was going to post for the rest of the world to laugh with me, but then I realized that I don’t have network out here in the middle of nowhere. D’oh!

Don’t worry… Once I actually unpack, I brought my digital cameras with me and I will simply retake ‘em. ;)

I found a big box of old comic books that I have full intention of bringing back to L.A. with me… along with some old classic novels.

Speaking of novels, I am currently reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold:

Anyway… back to reminiscing on this town. Some things just haven’t changed, of course.

I immediately sit down and open up the local paper. On the front page, two people were arrested in a drug bust. “I’m surprised it wasn’t for meth,” I told my mother… until I read further and continued with, “…Oh wait. Nevermind. It was.” Of course.

Somewhere in the mix, the paper had asked which Vice President would most likely help the Presidential canidate. Someone actually said, “Palin… because she’s a straight-talker.”

Because she’s a STRAIGHT-TALKER? You’re kidding me, right? Where the hell has this guy been living? Under a rock?

Oh wait. I forgot. I’m back in southeast Missouri. No wonder.

Anyway… before I get myself into this huge political tangent… I’m ending my entry for now. Time to go find some other slightly amusing, ridiculous things about this town that remind me why I left as fast as I did.
