So I’m a little bit shocked at how the array of recent events have occurred. First off, I was laid off yet again from a slowly deteriorating business due to lack of funds. I poured my entire soul into trying to build up the music division that I envisioned but unfortunately the powers that be didn’t seem to take a strong interest in my efforts… well that and I definitely had a boss that had a strong Vendetta out for me. Anyway, this had just happened the other day right after I had surgery to remove cysts and scar tissue from my lower abdomen…. perfect timing right? It gets worse…

Yesterday I was feeling quite energized to give back to the world that had taketh away from me. I started out by offering to bring lunch to Elissa because of her never ending support and love she has given me through a lot of hard times… plus, the girl was at work till 8 pm without a nom to nom on. As I proceeded to navigate this wonderful world of Los Angeles I found myself Lost on my way to sherman oaks. My fault really, I was desperately trying to avoid getting on the Montezuma revenge 405 freeway but finally had to succumb to the traffic. As I pulled into the lane I came nose to bumper with stop and go traffic. Hard stops, aggressive acceleration, then BAM! I skidded right into the 2009 Brand new black BMW in front of me. We immediately pulled over… My first words… “Uh, this is my first accident ever, uhhh we exchange info right?” Thank God she was super pleasant. She was obviously the Bev Hills Country Club type with her Prada jacket and 10K diamond earrings on. My fave part… “Don’t worry I have a daughter who gets into a lot of accidents, shes 17, I mean but this is a BMW and yours is a… well you know” (It’s a 2006 GT Mustang and it’s more badass then your beemer but whatever)

Minor damage, major drama

Finally delivered sandwich…. the most expensive sandwich to date officially due to the accident. But it was for Elissa and I would basically run my car into a wall for her. (even though that would prob only cause a scratch.) But seriously my car was barely shaved of color, her mess was minor, I think my bumper is a little loose. That’s it…. oh did I mention my insurance agent is my Dad?

Enter family drama here… My dad owns Allstate in Valencia. Like OWNS. The sister that I know longer speak to is one of his agents and secretary. I avoid any and all contact with this girl or this company. Fuck…. “Hey Jackie, is dad there?…. No… Oh really, Uh, I just got into my first car accident… are you serious, what the hell did you do?” Hmmm love how no one asks if I’m OK and assumed immediately that it was MY FAULT. WOW. Dad calls me back screaming at me saying “I’m paying for this shit, I’m a loser for getting laid off” blah blah blah…. hang up to pull into a gas station ’cause I’m on empty. Fuck, I left my debit card at the restaurant I bought Elissa’s sandwich from. Arrgh, guess I’ll have to use the joint account card I have with Ian… *swipes card* nothing. Nothing? NOTHING? “Server error” *goes into gas station, *swipes*, NOTHING… “Sorry you’re card isn’t working. OMG OMG, I’m in the middle of “who the hell knows” and I have no money and no gas, and I had just been in a car accident, shoot.me.nao. I get a tap on my window and I open my door to an amazingly sweet guy who asks, “So it didn’t work out huh, would $25 help?” Uhhhh… (enter tears here) Yes, and please accept this check you are a wonderful person for helping me. His response- “My mom is in the hospital somewhere out here and I thought, maybe if I helped someone, someone would help my mom.”

Oh Karma, I hope you are real and things can only get better from here.

I think that dealing with Family in those situations makes it way tougher. I have been asshole broke many many times and having to talk to my parents about it is worse than anything else.

I hope that things turn around for you!

    Karri,

Totally hear ya, sister! I have been laid off twice! The first time was because they didn’t want to accomodate the fact that I broke my foot and was up to my hip in a cast, but could work from home! Gee, thanks for the sympathy! The second time was in November. I had pancreatitis and a low white blood count and was in the hospital. They left me an e-mail that I was no longer needed! Gee boss, it wasn’t cancer after all, but thanks for asking! I also have two sisters that are bitchy and do not talk to me for whatever reason, (I’ll never know why). I finally got a job, but it’s only part time and I had to take a pay cut from what I normally make. (I’m in the medical field, which in itself is a joke, because these are the people that layed me off because I had two medical emergencies! I say, “Where the hell is House when you need him?”

I’m sorry to hear you had to go through all of the crap plus the car accident! I do believe in Karma, and your sister will get her load of shit as will little Miss Prada that was in the accident with you. I know this to be true, because the two bosses that laid me off? THEY GOT LAID OFF LAST MONTH! HAH!

Hang in there! Your Hawaii trip is not too far away! Go, soak up the sun, soak up some rum, and have fun! Forget about Cali for a while.

But, know there are people like me in your corner!

    O_O…

Ok first of all massive *HUGS*.
Secondly, I got laid off in December 27th. Right after working my ass off through the holidays (thank you retail) and haven’t been able to find a job since. Literally. No one will hire me. I have no idea why.

Sounds like you had the worst day ever. I know what it’s like to have that parent that automatically assumes everything is your fault and doesn’t even bother asking what happened. It’s rough. I really hope things get better for you though. Enjoy a little R&R in Hawaii and maybe the waves will wash some stress away.

As for the guy that gave you the $25…I really do hope Karma is real and helps you both out.

    XO
