So yesterday was a pretty big day for me and my fellow geeks. They officially announced the programming for Preview Night and Day 1 (Thursday) of this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego!
Although I had been to Comic-Con before, last year was the first year that I wasn’t stuck behind a booth working the entire time. Although my co-workers were down there with EepyBird and ABC Family, I was down there on my own, roaming free and getting to get the full convention experience. Little did I know what I was really getting myself into! Ridiculous amounts of traffic (both on the highway and in the center), and missing panels because the lines were way too freakin’ long…
I will not be making the same mistakes this year. I’d like to think I’m a little more prepared this time ’round.
Wednesday, July 22nd is Preview Night. I may or may not be checking out the pilot screenings for CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” and I may or may not be hitting up the ActiVisition party. Who knows, maybe I’ll just end up getting there and getting rest while I can, because I know exactly what’s to come for the remaining days… and a lot of sleep isn’t included in there…
Thursday, July 23rd is the first official day of the Con. Although there are quite a few panels I would love to attend, it’s just impossible to go to all of them due to either conflicting times of the actual panel… or the time it’s going to take to wait in line to even have a chance of getting into the room.
I think I have already made my final decisions for Day 1 which include:
- 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Disney: 3D Panel— Walt Disney Pictures presents key filmmakers, select cast members and previously unseen footage from its upcoming slate, including Disney’s A Christmas Carol, Alice In Wonderland and Tron. Special guests include Robert Zemeckis, Tim Burton, Sean Bailey, Steve Lisberger, and moderator Patton Oswalt. — Hall H (This means that yes, I will have to miss the World of Warcraft, G.I. Joe, and Disney/Stan Lee panels… but you know, I got priorities!)
- 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM – Showtime: Dexter— Calling all Dexter fans! If you’re a Dexter fanatic and can’t wait for the new season, you don’t want to miss this killer panel! Moderator Ralph Garman (KROQ Entertainment Reporter) presides over a revealing interview and Q&A session with the stars and executive producers of Dexter. Plus, get an exclusive first look at clips from the new season! Featured panelists include series star/executive producer Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Julie Benz (Rita), Jennifer Carpenter (Deb), and executive producers John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Clyde Phillips, and Melissa Rosenberg. The new season premieres September 27 at 9:00 PM EST/PST only on Showtime! — Ballroom 20 (There is NO way I’m missing this panel again this year!)

Although there are a couple of other panels that I might be able to work into my schedule for Day 1, those are the two that take top priority.
Meanwhile, I will also be helping out my friend/ex-boss Ro at his booth for War Machine Marketing (located at 5404), so please stop by! My dear friend Spider One (from the band Powerman 5000) will also be down there, once again being a correspondent for FEARnet. My “big brother” Jason Miller (of Godhead) will be there this year, as well… as well as the great Chad Michael Ward and Pearry Teo.
Looking forward to another great year!
