So Saturday morning and afternoon, I spent checking out a few apartments.
The first one I looked at was nice. The staff were friendly. However, each one I looked at were way too small for me and not worth the price.
On my way to my second appointment, I noticed another building had a vacancy sign. I decided to check it out on a whim. Let’s just say I knew it was going to be all bad when the guy answered the phone without any sort of formal, professional greeting and just a miserable-sounding “…hello?”
So back to my second appointment. I fell in love with this building as soon as I walked into the lobby/leasing office. ART EVERYWHERE. This was already started to SCREAM “me.” The staff were very friendly and of course I would be the one to click with them over talk about Thai food and videogames. I was first shown the lobby/club, WiFi cafe, dancing studio, sound studio, pool & spa, business center, and the gym; then shown three different sizes available and fell in love with the third (biggest) one:

I fell more and more love with it and put down a 72-hour holding fee. I was ready for this!
…Or so I thought. Unfortunately, as I was trying to clean a little today, I realized that I have a lot more shelves and bulky art supplies than I thought. I cannot part with these and I know they wouldn’t fit comfortably in that apartment. Talk about a bummout. So I had to notify my agent about the unfortunate news to get my refund.
So what’s my next move?
Well, apparently 800 square feet isn’t big enough for me (which makes me wonder how many square feet my current place actually is). Considering I want to continue living in my area, yet have already looked at the nicer apartments, it looks like I’ll just have to compromise.
So I’m staying in my current place. I am currently searching for a good, quality fan for my bedroom (since my place doesn’t have central air and I cannot continue living in the valley without any sort of cool air going to my bedroom. IT SUCKS). A couple people have already suggested I get one of those portable a/c units, but I’ve heard nothing but bad news about those and don’t feel like forking over $50+ for something that’s going to break easily. Mom suggested I find a nearby Brookstone store. She remembers seeing a high quality tornado fan in there for a decent amount.
So I won’t have my own 24-hour gym, pool, and spa… which is kind of a bummout. I am currently on a search for a nearby nice gym with a pool. Wish me luck. I suppose in the meanttime, I should force myself back into jogging around the park every day.
I plan to call my landlady and bug her to finally fix my dishwasher, for real this time.
So no fancy amenities for me. However, on the bright side of all of this, since I will no longer be putting all of that extra money into new rent, I decided I’m going to do some upgrading. Finally decorate my place like I’ve been wanting.. perhaps add another mattress and/or mattress pad to my bed.. eventually a new TV for my bedroom… outdoor wicker furniture… stuff like that.
I’m thinking pictures will come at some point next year when I plan to be all done with renovations!
