Swatch has released a new collection of touch-screen watches, Swatch Touch 2011. I imagine that these were the types of watches they had in mind for Back to the Future. (Now if only someone would perfect the hoverboards already….)

Someone on Buzzfeed was claiming that this is better than the original. Don’t get me wrong, this is awesome… but the original is quite clever.

Earlier today My Chemical Romance debuted the latest addition to their merch store, a limited edition Tokyoflash watch.

Custom made for Better Living Industries in association with Tokyoflash Japan, the limited edition Seikatsu Koujou Kyokusen wrist watch has a brushed stainless steel case, contrasting white leather strap and bright multi colored lights.

The name Seikatsu Koujou Kyokusen is a collaborative name. Seikatsu Koujou means Better Living and Kyokusen means curved line in Japanese – this name was inspired from the shape of the main display.

Easy to read at a glance, a single push of the lower button displays the time. Each lit segment of the orange curve indicates one hour. The circular array of red and green lights represents minutes; the outer circle showing time progression in groups of five minutes, the inner circle showing single minutes one to four.

Lights showing the current time will flash for a short time to direct you.

Seikatsu Koujou Kyokusen is a USB rechargeable watch. To recharge, just connect to your computer with the USB cable provided. One full charge will take 3.5 hours and each charge should last 1 month. There are 300 charges in one battery and the battery is replaceable.

An night time animation is programmed into Seikatsu Koujou Kyokusen. When activated, the minute lights will slowly rotate once every fifteen minutes between 18:00 and 24:00.

Swatch has teamed up with Kidrobot to create “Kidrobot for Swatch,” a collection of eight Gents, each accompanied by a matching complimentary Dunny!

Artists Gary Baseman, Jeremyville, Frank Kozik, Joe Ledbetter, MAD, Tara McPherson, SSUR, and Tilt have all contributed to the new collection, each with a characteristic design for a Gent and its accompanying 3-inch Dunny.

These guys will be available September 1, 2011 on http://store.swatch.com. You will also be able to find them in Swatch stores and other points of sale around the globe.

You can either buy the watches separately (the watch and complimentary 3-inch Dunny) or part of a special Kidrobot limited edition (of 300) set. Each of these “Special Sets” consists of the watches in the collection with their limited edition number (001/300, 002/300, etc) and is presented in special packaging to correspond with its Dunny.

Eight of the Dunnys in the limited edition packages are 3 inches high, while Frank Kozik’s mustachio’d white Dunny will also be available with a 20-inch high version!

Kidrobot released a list of their SDCC 2011 exclusives the other day, two of which are for South Park: Dead Kenny and Mysterion.

For those who have been following me for a while, you may remember that when I worked at DigiSynd/Disney, we had a life-sized Gremlins Spike in our office. He was probably my favorite piece of decor ever. Unfortunately, obviously I didn’t get to take him with me when I left.
