Winter Music Conference, Video Stills, & Other Nonsense

It’s a slow Wednesday morning for me. I’m sitting in the office, waiting for my coffee to kick in, wondering who’s taking up the main conference room, and spitting ridiculous emails back and forth with Mat Devine. Very exciting, I know.
Anyway, speaking of Mat, he has posted some stills from his band’s (Kill Hannah) ‘Promise Me’ video shoot over at his blog… along with his usual random blurbs. Now that I look at the stills again, remind me to continue to avoid Chicago because I’d rather deal with Mat and wine glasses. Not Mat and an axe. (Although, if he comes across an axe on his next L.A. visit, I’m fucked).
For those in Miami, Mat and Greg will be out [...]

A Look Back at 2009:

So for those who have known me for years, or for those who have been following me since January, you might remember that I had a Hellish start to 2009. From all of the deaths that I have personally had to deal with, to all of the times I’ve gotten ridiculously sick, to that time that I almost ended up hospitalized, to a handful of other things that just aren’t really worth mentioning anymore… Let’s just say that the first half of this year has by far been the worst I’ve ever had yet.
Fortunately, it was times like these that I was reminded how lucky I really am. It was times like these that I am reminded how lucky I [...]

One Night in Los Angeles…

So with Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving weekend, and one hell of a busy week at work, I haven’t had the chance to write about this until now.
One night last week, I was at my best friend and her husband’s house, and they were telling me how they were interested in getting into professional photography and had picked up a beautiful Nikon D3000 from Samy’s– and how the store had some killer deals I may be interested in. I’ve actually been due for an upgrade for years now, but just never really had the funds set aside for it until now. As I played with the 3000, I fell more and more in love. Plus, I’ve been really excited to now have someone [...]

Concert Photography Basics

Here are some questions someone asked me last week that I thought some of the rest of you might also be interested in:
How did you become a concert photographer?
When I started having a sparked interest in concert photography, it definitely came unexpected. I was still just a young kid (too young to really start thinking about my future) about nine or ten years ago, going to shows and street-teaming for record labels. I was living in Missouri at the time, and Neptune Crush (a local St. Louis band) and Kill Hannah were always playing shows together at this tiny little club. Neptune Crush always had some of the coolest light setups, and every time they played with KH there, [...]
