E3 2010: Microsoft “Project Natal”/Kinect Experience Event
So I had the opportunity to attend one of Microsoft’s “Natal”/Kinect events the other night, and it was pretty interesting. Big production with Cirque du Soleil, and they made everything seem as if we had all gotten thrown into Pandora (minus blue people). Oh, and there was a giant “elephant.”
Although a fun show to watch, I was kind of hoping there were playable stations to test Kinect out. Unfortunately, there weren’t. Fortunately, that is what E3 is for, and I hope I can find some time from work-mode to test this sucker out for myself. I will say, though, the dancing game looks like it might be cool on it.
Here’s the trailer for the new console:

Microsoft’s Project Natal Gets a New Name
Soooo… in case you missed the big announcement yesterday, Microsoft has renamed their “Project Natal” to…
…Kinect.
Now everyone can stop fighting each other on how to pronounce “Natal!” hahaha
In all seriousness, though, I will be at tonight’s event for this new system and I’m pretty stoked to check it out myself. It will be a lovely way to fully kick off my E3 week!
Speaking of, you really should be keeping an eye out on the following Twitter accounts for E3 updates throughout the week: @DisneyE3, @sarahdope, @themisse, @Machinima_com, @E3, @E3Expo, @TinaAmini, @InsideGaming!
Custom TRON NES
This NES has been custom painted using a hand mixed airbrush paint with glowing powder. The paint job not only glows BRIGHTLY in black light, but it charged and stays glowing on its own. The console also has NESmod installed which acts a dual mono “stereo” mod with boosted sound from an additional PCB with amplified audio.

The A-Team Van Game Using Google Earth Technology
Interesting fun little game to check out using Google Earth:
http://www.youtube.com/drivetheateamvan
You need to install the Google Earth plugin (provided on the channel) first. Then refresh and the game will load (instead of the how-to video)… and start playing!
UFO Launching at E3 2010!
Okay, maybe not really a UFO, but remember when I posted about this thing you can fly with your iPhone that debuted at CES 2010?
Well, it’s come back, and this time the Parrot AR Drone will be launching at this year’s E3!
The AR.Drone is controlled via an iPhone and can fight with another copters using augmented reality. This fantastic remote control copter has two cameras and uses WiFi for control via an ad-hoc connection from the iPhone.
The control system comprises of two ultrasonic transmitters for vertical stability, a three-axis accelerometer, and a two-axis gyroscope paired with a single-axis yaw precision gyroscope. WoW.. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these.

ACDC vs Iron Man 2
This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
ACDC Vs Iron Man 2 – Architectural Projection Mapping on Rochester Castle from seeper on Vimeo.
On the site of a thousand years of violent history, ACDC were pitted against Iron Man in a ground breaking architectural projection mapping project. The front facade of the Great Keep at Rochester Castle, was brought to life using the latest in 3D animation techniques. This onslaught of the senses, saw the castle confront it’s ultimate challenge. Warping, morphing, spewing and collapsing before the audiences eyes. Let there be rock!
