Forrest Progression Stills from Alice in Wonderland
Here are some progression stills of a forrest scene from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland:
ALICE IN WONDERLAND Progression still 1 of 5. The shot of Alice in Tulgey Woods–home to the Chesire Cat–begins with Mia Wasikowska photographed on a green-screen stage. Shadowy lighting is already being used to help blend the real-life actor into her computer-generated surroundings. © Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND Progression still 2 of 5. Artists at Imageworks, take the green-screen photography and place it in a low-resolution CG model of the environment. Shadows help to integrate Alice, even with the most basic colors and shapes of the rough model. © Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND Progression still 3 of 5. Low-resolution geometry is replaced with high-resolution. Alice’s hair is blowing from an on-set fan, and later, a matching computer-generated breeze will rustle the surrounding foliage. © Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND Progression still 4 of 5. Effects artists at Imageworks add the green smoky cloud that passes around Alice, which is about to reveal the Cheshire Cat behind Alice on the left. © Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Full Story »One Night in Los Angeles…
So with Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving weekend, and one hell of a busy week at work, I haven’t had the chance to write about this until now.
One night last week, I was at my best friend and her husband’s house, and they were telling me how they were interested in getting into professional photography and had picked up a beautiful Nikon D3000 from Samy’s– and how the store had some killer deals I may be interested in. I’ve actually been due for an upgrade for years now, but just never really had the funds set aside for it until now. As I played with the 3000, I fell more and more in love. Plus, I’ve been really excited to now have someone to shoot with and someone to work on landscape photography (something that I sometimes have played with, but obviously I’m more of a concert photography specialist) with.
Last weekend, after the holiday, I brought over my old photography book from college for Alicia to read up on. She already knew basics from taking a class when she was in high school, but I knew the book would have a lot more information that would be good for her. I managed to [...]

A change of plans with the living situation:
So Saturday morning and afternoon, I spent checking out a few apartments.
The first one I looked at was nice. The staff were friendly. However, each one I looked at were way too small for me and not worth the price.
On my way to my second appointment, I noticed another building had a vacancy sign. I decided to check it out on a whim. Let’s just say I knew it was going to be all bad when the guy answered the phone without any sort of formal, professional greeting and just a miserable-sounding “…hello?”
So back to my second appointment. I fell in love with this building as soon as I walked into the lobby/leasing office. ART EVERYWHERE. This was already started to SCREAM “me.” The staff were very friendly and of course I would be the one to click with them over talk about Thai food and videogames. I was first shown the lobby/club, WiFi cafe, dancing studio, sound studio, pool & spa, business center, and the gym; then shown three different sizes available and fell in love with the third (biggest) one:
I fell more and more love with it and put down a 72-hour holding fee. I was ready for [...]
