So in case you haven’t heard, PETA is going after Obama… OVER A FREAKIN’ FLY.

…Then again, why are any of us that surprised? You’re talking about the same corporation who shot an anti-fur campaign USING LEATHER AND A SUEDE COUCH in the shoot, as well as models who actually DO wear fur… then when called out on it, shrugged and said it didn’t matter because they “brought attention to the matter.”

This is also the same group of people who protested the killing of baby seals… IN A VIDEO GAME.

Fighting for EQUALITY.

Last November, we took a HUGE step back as people when Proposition 8 [the ban on gay marriage] somehow passed in California. Not only were gay marriages banned, but previous marriages when it was legal were about to be nullified.

Yeah, that’s right. Once upon a time, gay marriage was legal here… and we just took that away from them? Again? Really?

Today, the Supreme Court was to decide whether or not Prop 8 would be overturned…. and unfortunately, it was upheld. The only small silver lining to this cloud is that previous gay marriages will not be nullified.

The fight continues…. and we will NOT give up.

The Friday of FAIL!

What a day.

It started off quite pleasant, actually. My buddy Mat is in town from Chicago and has currently taken over my living room couch. We woke up fairly early and decided to grab some coffee and a light breakfast. Sat outside for a bit, chit chatted away, then headed back to my apartment.

I immediately got to work, and he went off to go visit some of his other friends out here.

I worked from home today. The weather was beautiful… it was very peaceful. Then the evening crawled up with a lot of this:

My friend Karri and I had made plans a week ago to do dinner and a movie tonight. She comes over after she gets out of her office, with food, we chill for a bit. We had decided on the 7:55 showing of Haunting in Connecticut at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks. We leave my place around 7:20, because I’m not that far at all. It should’ve been plenty of time…

…but oh look, traffic.

We get there right at 7:55. Oh look, small lines at each register, but each one is moving incredibly slow. We’re still waiting in line when the big sign changes from “7:55 showing NOW available for seating”… to “7:55 showing NOT available for seating.” OF COURSE.

We grumble and step out of line… hop onto our phones and start looking up other theatres with other showtimes. Universal City Walk at either 8:20 or 9:00. Bingo. We head to our new destination after taking a bit of time to find our car that we lost.

We go through the parking guy for the Curious George lot… who fails to tell us that there is NO parking left. We drive around in circles for a while until we finally go over to Jurassic Parking. The dude lets us through… we find parking… rush to the ticket machines, purchase tickets. I wait in line for an Icee… we’re cutting it close on time… it’s 8:59 PM.

Karri goes to save us seats. I’m still waiting in line at concession… just a few more minutes now. The couple in front of me took forever, then, as I step up, the employee tells me she has to go do ‘something’ and that the coworker next to her (who, mind you, already had his own full line) will take care of me. Uh… WHAT?

Of course, he asks for the next person… and as it was supposed to be me (according to his coworker), it wasn’t. I speak out my irritation, and the guy finally tends to me. So much trouble for a freakin’ large blue Icee. [*Note: I felt really bad for the guy who was in line behind me, and wished him good luck after I was finally tended to]

Make my way into my saved seat halfway through previews…. and realize almost every single person in the theater is talking, and rather loudly at that. Oh.. OF COURSE they continued this DURING the actual movie.

I was tempted to slaughter the kids behind us… who decided to not only talk during the entire freaking movie (who the hell forks out $10 – 12 for a movie… to do nothing but talk through the entire thing?)… but they kept kicking Karri’s seat, AND one of them even answered their phone during the flick.

REALLY? Who the hell has a two to three minute conversation on the phone in the middle of a movie? Ever hear of this wonderous thing called “text messaging?” Or at least go to the lobby and talk. Christ.

For those wanting to know about the movie– it was alright for a PG-13 “scary movie.” Worth $10+? Not really, but eh. I did enjoy recognizing some of it from the Discovery documentary.

I feel like I have anxiety now. Time to wind down…

Claribelle, if you are reading this… all I have to say is: “OH FRIDAY….”

Oh, by the way… another “FAIL of the day” moment? Iowa legalized gay marriage. How is that a “Fail?” It’s good for Iowa.. but it’s a “fail” because… well.. WHAT THE FUCK, CALIFORNIA?! The people of Iowa “get it” but you don’t anymore? WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Ohhh.. annnnd… my Apple key is falling off my laptop again. So to all of my old and new Apple buddies in Syracuse, there’s a good chance I will beg you to fix it for me when I [hopefully] return in May.
